Welcome Back from Dr. Michael Baugus

Dear Central Middle Families,

Greetings and welcome to all of our returning and new families to Parkway Central Middle School.  This has been a busy and exciting summer for the administrative team and staff with summer school, professional development and major renovations throughout the building.  I am excited about the 2011-2012 school year with approximately 860 students currently enrolled!~

The middle school experience is a special time for students to meet new people, develop new skills and think about future goals.  This is also a time for parents to continue their involvement, so I encourage you to become active with the Parent Teacher Organization and to volunteer when you are available.  Please feel free to stop by for lunch with your child because they do enjoy having their parents visit school.

Our staff is eager about the opportunities to work with your child during this period of development and consider it a privilege to be a part of their lives.  We are fortunate to have the following new staff members bring their talent and experiences to our school:

Kathleen Cronin – 8-3 Math                         Melissa Gillman – 6-3 Math

Elizabeth Kenney – ESOL                           Carol Lena – 8-2 Comm Arts

Katelyn McCreary – PE / Health                  Stephanie Paul – 7-2 Math

Tracy Pellegrini – SSD Area Coordinator    Robby Seidel – SSD Teacher

Joan Snyder – French                                 Juli Whitehead – SSD Teacher

Enclosed is pertinent information that will help you become familiar with our school policies and procedures.  All students will receive a student planner/assignment book the first day of school which gives further details about school guidelines and expectations.  The planner is a valuable tool to assist students with keeping track of homework assignments, projects and tests.  Special thanks to the PTO for purchasing these planners for our students!  Please take time to review this information with your child in order to help him/her get off to a great start for a productive school year.  During the year, newsletters will be sent electronically and/or available in the front office the last Wednesday of each month.

Please note our new school hours for the 2011-2012 school year:  8:15 am – 3:10 pm.  If you are driving your student to school in the morning please drop them off after 7:45 am.  Another change is in the days for After School Activities.  They will be offered on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday starting in September with activity busses leaving Central Middle around 4:30 pm.

I look forward to seeing you at our Open House on Thursday, August 18th, for sixth grade parents or Thursday, August 25th, for seventh and eighth grade parents.  Enjoy the last few days of the summer break with family and friends!
