Project Parkway

Project Parkway Q & A

What is “Project Parkway?”

Launched in the spring of 2009, Project Parkway brings together members of the Parkway School District community to help set the future direction of our schools. Any district resident or employee is eligible to participate in the ongoing work of Project Parkway. Under the direction of the Parkway Board of Education, volunteers from the community will have an ongoing role to review the district’s progress toward meeting goals identified in Parkway’s five-year strategic plan from 2011 to 2016. This plan is also called our Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP).

Who can get involved?

Any Parkway resident or employee may may attend any of the Project Parkway meetings. All meetings are open to the public.

What is the time commitment?

In short, volunteers will meet about four times during the school year (September through May). Your initial commitment is one year, but you may continue for the following school year if you wish.

Can I attend the meetings if I am not an advisory team member?

Yes! All Project Parkway meetings will be open to the public. So even if you cannot become an active participant, you are welcome to attend any of the meetings in which you are interested. To keep you informed, we post all agendas, minutes and reports on the Parkway website.

What will each of the advisory teams do?

Each team will work under the direction of the school board to monitor our progress toward meeting our goals and provide feedback.  For more information, click here.

What is the role of the Project Parkway steering committee?

The steering committee represents a broad cross-section of Parkway parents, teachers, administrators and other residents. It is charged with setting the overall direction for Project Parkway, under the guidance of the school board. They will meeti four times a year in addtion to the quarterly meetings, so their time commitment is larger.
